Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz Under Investigation After Doping Test; Surrey Deal Falls Through

Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz is under investigation after returning a positive test for recreational drug use raising concerns ahead of a busy cricketing calendar.
According to reports, the test was conducted during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup earlier this year. The matter is now being handled under the anti-doping framework of the International Cricket Council.
A spokesperson for the Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that the board has initiated due process following notification from the ICC adding that the findings will be formally communicated upon completion of proceedings.
As a direct consequence, Nawaz’s anticipated stint with Surrey County Cricket Club for the T20 Blast has been cancelled. The 32-year-old had recently received a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the PCB and was expected to feature throughout the tournament, scheduled from late May to mid-July.
Despite the ongoing investigation, Nawaz has continued to participate in the Pakistan Super League representing Multan Sultans. He last appeared in their match against Rawalpindi delivering a wicketless spell in a recent victory.
With the ICC declining to comment further, the case remains under review and its outcome could have significant implications for Nawaz’s international and domestic cricket future.
