Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast hot and dry weather across most districts of Punjab with temperatures expected to remain above normal in the coming days.
According to the latest outlook, a shallow westerly weather system that had been affecting the upper parts of the country has weakened, significantly reducing the chances of rainfall. As a result, dry and humid conditions are likely to dominate across the province.
The PMD noted that while some northern areas including Kashmir, Murree and the Galliyat, experienced partly cloudy conditions and light rain a day earlier, no significant rainfall is expected even in these regions going forward.
In the plains, particularly across central and southern Punjab, daytime temperatures are projected to stay 3 to 5 degrees Celsius above normal, intensifying the ongoing heat.
Recent data highlights the rising temperatures with Rahim Yar Khan recording highs of 41.5°C, while cooler conditions were observed in Murree, where temperatures dropped to 12°C. In Kashmir, Garhi Dupatta recorded 35°C, while Rawalakot saw lows of 10.6°C.
Officials warn that the continued rise in temperature could increase discomfort levels and urge citizens to take necessary precautions during peak heat hours.
