These wetlands are home to flamingos, seals and sea turtles and protesters fear that fast-tracked development projects backed by foreign investorscould damage these fragile ecosystems. As a result, the flamingo has come to represent environmental protection, with some even calling the movement the “Flamingo Revolution.”
