Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided not to disclose the names of players or the number of central contracts awarded under its newly introduced system marking a significant shift from past practice.
In a statement issued after a press conference in Lahore, the PCB said the distribution of contracts across its five categories would remain confidential, describing it as a “selection matter” reviewed periodically rather than a fixed public figure.
This move has raised concerns over transparency, especially as the board has already stopped publishing its financial statements in recent years. Critics argue that withholding such information limits public scrutiny and continues a broader trend of restricted access to key decisions.
PCB officials also confirmed that players will need to meet fitness standards, participate in domestic cricket and maintain consistent performances to be considered for national selection criteria observers say are not new.
The announcement comes amid growing criticism over the decline in Pakistan cricket and calls for clearer reforms and accountability.
