Where sunlight falls on silicon layers inside the cell and frees electrons. These electrons are guided by an internal electric field created between two doped silicon layers one with extra electrons and one with fewer forcing them to flow in a single direction and generate electricity. This direct current (DC) can then be converted into alternating current (AC) using an inverter allowing sunlight to power homes even under direct sun.
