The United States has removed Syria from its state sponsors of terrorism list ending a decades-old designation that restricted investment.
Washington also revoked the terrorist designation of Al-Nusrah Front (HTS) and eased related sanctions.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the move could encourage investment and economic stability in Syria. The decision is also seen as support for Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and his government.
The US said sanctions relief does not change its commitment to combating terrorism or holding individuals responsible for wrongdoing.
