Lahore experienced heavy rainfall on Tuesday evening, leading to widespread disruption as over 450 electricity feeders tripped, leaving large parts of the city without power for hours. The rain, which continued for one to two hours caused water accumulation in several low-lying areas, affecting traffic flow and daily routine.
In response, the Water and Sanitation Authority launched emergency drainage operations across the city, with teams deployed to clear major roads and underpasses. Officials remained on high alert, ensuring that disposal stations operated continuously and drainage systems functioned smoothly.
Authorities confirmed that the highest rainfall of 50mm was recorded in Nishtar Town, followed by significant showers in areas like Johar Town (32mm), Gulberg and Jail Road (around 16mm each), along with Lakshmi Chowk, Upper Mall, and other parts of the city receiving moderate rainfall.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority has issued a weather alert for April 2–4, warning of possible flash floods in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur due to a strong westerly weather system. Emergency services, including rescue teams, have been placed on high alert, while residents especially those living near rivers and streams have been advised to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary movement.
