Lahore: Babar Azam has been appointed captain of Pakistan’s Test squads for upcoming tours of the West Indies cricket team and England cricket team, the Pakistan Cricket Board announced.
Pakistan will play a two-match Test series in the West Indies from July 25 to August 6, followed by a three-match series in England from August 19 to September 13.
The squads include several uncapped players indicating a blend of experience and new talent. Despite earlier debate over leadership choices, selectors have placed their confidence in Azam.
Key players such as Mohammad Rizwan and Shan Masood are included, while Saud Shakeel’s selection for the England tour is subject to fitness.
The move marks Azam’s return to red-ball leadership as Pakistan prepares for a challenging overseas Test season.
