Indian Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has expressed a desire to attend the World Punjabi Conference in Lahore from November 27 to 29, saying he has received an invitation. However, he questioned whether India’s BJP-led government would allow him to visit Pakistan.
Addressing the Punjab Assembly, Mann said people on both sides of the border shared common roots, culture and concerns. Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan jokingly asked Mann to take other lawmakers along if permission was granted.
Mann also called for reopening the Kartarpur Corridor amid strained Pakistan-India relations.
