China hosted a special screening of the film Dear You for diplomats in Beijing aiming to enhance understanding of Chinese society and culture. Around 150 representatives from 74 embassies attended the event, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.
The film explores migration, family history and the Chinese diaspora through a story spanning decades.
Officials said the initiative highlights the lives, values and heritage of Chinese people, though the film has also sparked debate in Southeast Asia over potential propaganda elements
