A person familiar with the discussions told CNN that Meghan is in talks to potentially join the series, which stars English actor Theo James. The program is filmed in the United Kingdom, where Meghan and Prince Harry are preparing to move back later this month.
The discussions are understood to be at an early stage, and no agreement has been finalized. The series has also not yet been officially renewed for a third season. Its second season is scheduled to debut on Netflix next month.
Reports about Meghan’s possible involvement were first published by Deadline, which said the conversations remain hypothetical and that no specific role has yet been identified. Netflix has declined to comment on the reports.
A return to scripted acting would mark a significant development in Meghan’s career. She stepped away from acting in 2018 after becoming engaged to Prince Harry, having established herself internationally through the legal drama “Suits.”
On “Suits,” Meghan played Rachel Zane, a paralegal who eventually became an attorney. She left the series after its seventh season as she prepared for her new life with Harry. At the time, she described the decision as a transition into a new chapter rather than giving up her career.
The show later experienced a major resurgence after becoming available on Netflix in 2023. Meghan subsequently described the renewed popularity of the series as surprising, particularly given how long it had been since she appeared on the program.
Before joining “Suits,” Meghan had smaller roles in television programs including “CSI: NY,” “Fringe” and “Castle.” Her film credits included appearances in “Horrible Bosses” and “Remember Me.”
Although she has not returned to a conventional scripted acting role since leaving “Suits,” Meghan has remained involved in entertainment projects. Her Netflix lifestyle series “With Love, Meghan” premiered in 2025 and focused on cooking, entertaining and home-based activities. The program ran for two seasons.
She has also reportedly been moving closer to acting again. In 2025, reports indicated that Meghan would make a small appearance as herself in the Amazon MGM comedy “Close Personal Friends,” which stars Jack Quaid and Brie Larson. The film’s release date has not yet been announced.
Meghan’s possible involvement in “The Gentlemen” comes as she and Prince Harry prepare for a major change in their living arrangements. The couple has been based in Montecito, California, since 2020, after stepping back from their roles as working members of the British royal family.
The Sussexes subsequently developed a range of media projects through Archewell Productions, including a major Netflix partnership. Their 2022 documentary series “Harry & Meghan” became one of the most prominent projects to emerge from that relationship and examined their experiences with royal life and their decision to step away.
Meghan has also pursued podcasting and her lifestyle business, while continuing to develop projects through her production company.
The family is expected to live in a private residence outside London following the move to Britain. Their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are also expected to attend British schools from September.
For now, Meghan’s reported involvement in “The Gentlemen” remains unconfirmed. There is no finalized deal, no publicly announced role and no confirmation that the third season will proceed.
If the discussions result in an agreement, however, the project could represent Meghan’s most significant return to scripted acting since she left “Suits” in 2018.
