Ukrainian strikes targeting Yandex data centres have disrupted parts of Russia’s digital infrastructure, affecting services used by millions. The reported impact may extend beyond search engines, maps and ride-hailing with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claiming that online activity directed against Israel from Russia has fallen by 60 per cent following the strikes. Netanyahu’s claim has not been independently verified. He has raised concerns about anti-Israel networks and antisemitic online operations, suggesting that disruptions to Russian digital infrastructure may have broader geopolitical implications. Despite tensions over Russia’s cooperation with Iran, Netanyahu said he remains in contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin when necessary. The reported developments highlight the intersection of cyber activity, digital infrastructure and regional security, though the precise link between the strikes and the alleged decline in online activity remains unclear.
